Today I took an important action that will forever alter the course of my life. I presented my letter of resignation thereby setting the execution date for my career at "X Company" as September 3, 2010.
Although dumb on paper- leaving a well-paying and stable career in today's economy- I feel incredibly light and I am excited for the adventures that lay ahead of me. I have this overwhelming feeling of positivity of what is to come and literally everyone I share my story with urges me to proceed.
This is not exactly a snap decision; I have been mulling it over seriously for a week since Jet Blue had the All you Can Fly Sale, but I have really been considering quitting since 6 months after I started my job in April, 2006. I have chosen to no longer be resigned and to resign.
Over the next 9 weeks I will be selling virtually every possession I own, limit my belongings to a 55L pack, leave my job, and embark with a dear friend on a 5 week trip around the USA, Mexico, and Costa Rica. 5 days after I return I will then leave on a solo trip to Bogota, Colombia for a minimum of 9 days, maybe more.
During these travels I will be searching for my next home town, my next career path, my next everything. I am completely open to whatever presents itself as an opportunity and at the end of this journey, I hope to be able to begin anew in a new area of this planet, with a new focus on what I am passionate about, and the energy to pursue these passions wholeheartedly and without reservations.
Via this blog, I will provide continuous updates on the adventures we have, the people we meet, the sights we see, the insights I have, and the entire process of leaving stability for the promise of a life-changing and unforgettable adventure that is created with the intention of finding one's path in this world.
I will also provide information on how I have done what I have done so far, for example, successfully selling one's possessions on Craigslist, as well as insights into what I should have done differently.
My goal for this blog is to provide a forum where people like me may find the courage and the know-how to pursue a similar path, where dear friends and family can keep tabs on where I am at and what I am up-to, and where those who aren't in the position to do this can still share these experiences with us and live vicariously through us.
This is my first blog so if you have any suggestions regarding any aspect whatsoever please feel free to offer your input.
Similarly, anyone can comment on the posts, regardless if you are registered or are a follower, so please feel free to add your own comments, thoughts, questions, and responses.
Here's to great adventures for all of us.
Un abrazo fuerte
Amazing! I can't wait to read about your adventures. I did something similar 2 years ago when I went to Thailand and I don't regret it in any way. Buena suerte con todo!
